MATH 210 - Applied Statistics
This course, Business Statistics in northern Canada, will provide students with an understanding of the statistical tools and techniques used in the business industry. The course will focus on the application of statistical methods to real-world global business problems, with a specific emphasis on the unique challenges and opportunities present in the northern Canadian context. The course will also include hands-on opportunities for students to apply their knowledge to real-world situations. By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in statistical analysis and be able to use this knowledge to make data-driven decisions in the business world.
Topics covered in this course include graphical techniques for data and presentation, measures of central location and variability, probability, discrete and continuous probability distributions, sampling distributions, estimation, and hypothesis testing. Students will learn how to apply knowledge gained in these areas using statistical computer applications.
Prerequisite(s) MATH 11 (foundations or precalculus); COMP161 or permission from the program
