Health and dental insurance

The health and dental insurance plan is mandatory for students enrolled at Yukon University. The plan provides protection and security for eligible students, minimizing the effects of injury or ailments.

Health and dental plan fees

Coverage term Cost per plan (health and dental)
Full-year: first day of Fall term to August 31, 2022 $565 CAD
Eight-months: first day of Winter term to August 31, 2022 $390 CAD

Note: Costs are payable along with tuition and fees at the start of term.

Adding family members to health and dental plans

Students wanting to add on family members can do so by paying additional fees directly through the insurance company once enrolled.

Opting out of health and dental plans

If a student is already covered under a government health insurance plan they may request to opt-out.

Each plan has an annual premium, therefore, opting out of either the health plan or dental plan must be done prior to the specified deadline and must be accompanied by proof of existing insurance.

The deadline to opt out of the health and dental plans is on the last day for payment of term fees. See our Important Dates.

For example, if your program starts in September, you must opt out prior to the end of the fall deadline.

No exceptions will be made if the deadline is missed. It is the student’s responsibility to pay the plan fees if they miss the applicable opt-out deadline.
