EMR 001 - Emergency Medical Responder
This course provides the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to an emergency, to help sustain life, reduce pain, and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness. Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) is for those providing emergency response in a pre-hospital setting and in the workplace: firefighters, law-enforcement officers, workplace first attendant and emergency medical services personnel. EMR training is a minimum of 80hrs of intense learning in a dynamic environment, you should be prepared to work and study hard. There are reading materials to pickup prior to the course start to introduce concepts, language and to help set a base level. If you are taking this course as a prerequisite to a Primary Care Paramedics program, call the PCP program and verify that this course, at YukonU, will meet the requirements.
Recognized as an equivalent to Advanced First Aid & OFA 3.
Prerequisite: current Standard First Aid/CPR-C certification & EMR Manual/Workbook
