This course examines the role of schooling, the teacher and the paraprofessional with a focus on current teaching and learning processes, particularly those related to student-centered learning.

This course includes a field placement to familiarize students with general teaching practice and provide students with experiences typical to the role of an education assistant in an education setting. Students will work and observe in a classroom setting with students with exceptionalities under the supervision of Yukon College faculty and classroom teachers. Currently employed education assistants and remedial tutors are encouraged to undertake a placement in a school setting other than their work site location.
