Dawson City is situated within Tr’ondek Hwëch’in Traditional Territory, at the confluence of the Chu kon’ dëk (Yukon) and Tr’ondëk (Klondike) Rivers.
Dawson is a thriving community that was built by mining, sustained by culture and tourism and tended by government. The campus supports these sectors by providing various courses and programs in a number of areas. A variety of short and long-term training programs are offered with a priority to meet local employment needs.

Students who are enrolled in Yukon U's online programs and courses are welcome to attend and study on campus. Participate in your online courses from the campus and / or drop in to enjoy some quiet study time in a tranquil environment. We also deliver a variety of face-to-face continuing education courses and localized programs in our well furnished classrooms. Our spaces are comfortable, equipped and supported by staff to enhance your Yukon U learning experience.

Learning Hub & Classroom
When we are not running courses and activities, we are happy to host students and community members in our Hëtrʼohoʼày̨ (we are learning) Learning Hub & Classroom, situated downstairs near the reception desk. This area offers computer and Internet access combined with study space for doing your coursework, research, communications, etc.
The computers are accessible to the public during office hours. However, technical assistance and printing is only available when our Administrative Assistant is working at the reception desk.

Yukon Water and Wastewater Operator Program
The Yukon Water and Wastewater Operator program (YWWOP) offers a range of courses designed to meet the needs of new and prospective water and wastewater operators, as well as current operators working within governments (municipal, territorial, federal or First Nation) and the private sector (e.g. mining, water delivery). Our courses are also relevant to any health professional, supervisor, technician or homeowner involved with or interested in water and wastewater.
Our ‘Core’ courses are designed to prepare the participant to write a related Environmental Operators Certification Program (EOCP) exam. ‘Elective’ courses are designed to develop technical and workplace essential skills related to the water and wastewater sector, and offer continuing education units (CEUs). ‘Specialized’ courses can be developed to meet the needs of a specific group.

Comprehensive 14 hour course offers first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for those who need training due to work requirements or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies at home. Exceeds competitors' standards by including injury prevention content, CPR and AED.

Contrary to common perception, conflict isn't solely a negative encounter but can serve as a crucial element in our personal growth and development. This two-day course is designed to equip you with the skills necessary to effectively resolve conflicts and attain mutually beneficial outcomes. You will delve into understanding the nature of conflict, its potential for escalation, and the various types and stages it can take. You will also explore the five most prevalent conflict resolution styles and how to use them. The course will further emphasize the significance of non-verbal and verbal communication skills and explore effective intervention skills. Air Brakes Endorsement | Tues & Wed, Sept 17 & 18 from 9:00am - 5:00pm; Thurs, Sept 19 from 9am - 4:00pm | $525 + gst
This 20-hour course is designed to give students the knowledge & skills to operate equipment fitted with air brake systems and to maintain that system in a safe operating condition. Students will learn the principles of the various components, correct maintenance and trouble-shooting procedures and the correct adjustment procedures for these components. Participants of this course will be able to write the government examination during the course. Successfully completing the course, exam and having a Yukon Drivers License will earn a Yukon Government Air Brake Endorsement. The course follows the format and subject matter that is approved by the Government Motor Vehicle Branch.

Class 3 Commercial Driver Training
Class 3 Theory | Mon - Thurs, Sept 23 - 26 | 1:00 - 4:00pm | Cost TBD
This 12-hour course provides the knowledge necessary for those wishing to challenge the Yukon Government’s Motor Vehicles’ Class 3 Written Test. Format includes classroom, introduction to truck simulator, and in-yard skills. Students will learn the introductory knowledge and skills for a commercial driving vocational path. Skills include vehicle inspection and chain up skills. This course is 4 half-days of course work.
Class 3 Simulator | Oct 7 - Oct 25 | Various times | Cost TBD
This 9-hour course provides basic skill competency in driving a simulated Class 3 manual transmission vehicle. Format utilizes a Virage Commercial Truck Driving Simulator in a classroom environment. Students will have the opportunity to book their simulator time on the first day via calendar time slots.
Class 3 In-Cab | Oct 21 - Nov 9 | Various Times | Cost TBD
This 14-hour course provides the skill and knowledge necessary for those wishing to challenge the Yukon Government’s Motor Vehicles’ Class 3 Road Test. Format includes introduction to truck simulator if required, in-yard skills and in cab driving under supervision. Students learn the introductory skills and knowledge for a commercial driving vocational path. Students will book in cab hours with the instructor on the first day of class. Please note this portion of the course is dependent upon the availability of a training vehicle and additional fees may apply if the vehicle needs to be booked for the road test. Conscious Aging Talk | Tues, Oct 1 | 10:30am - 2:00pm | FREE
This talk is for anyone curious about Conscious Aging and the inner work it involves. Do you envision your later years as a time of purpose, growth, and passion? Are you willing to prepare for such an elderhood? Would you like guidance and support in your preparation? This talk will introduce you to the major themes of aging consciously and is an invitation to begin the journey – to embark on a path of continued growth and development.
Instructor Larry Gray holds a B.Sc., M.E.S., M.Ed. and is Faculty Emeritus, Yukon University. With a deep curiosity about Conscious Aging and extensive training in this field, Larry is a faculty member of the Centre for Conscious Eldering and is a certified trainer through Sag-ing International.

Do you need to upgrade your math knowledge? This basic mathematics course will be offered in a face-to-face delivery at the Dawson Campus in the Fall 2024. Skillful Manager Series
The ‘Skillful Manager’ is a series of one to two-day seminars for both aspiring and experienced supervisors and managers. Focusing on optimizing productivity and engagement, a variety of essential management tools and management strategies will be explored. Providing a comprehensive snapshot of workplace issues and developing individuals’ key competencies will enable participants to understand, coach, motivate, and lead teams for success. These seminars are relevant for employees across all sectors in small companies, corporations, and governments.

Increase your scheduling flexibility and reduce the in-class portion for your Standard First Aid/CPR-C training by registering for Blended SFA/CPR-C. Complete the online theory based portion up to 30-days prior to the in-class day. Bring your online learning proof of completion with you to the 7 hours of in class training, where your practical skills will be taught and evaluated. Complete a 30 question, multiple choice test and receive your Standard First Aid/CPR-C certification.

In partnership with YukonU Youth Moving Mountains - We offer programming designed to inspire children and youth across the Yukon in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics, and Trades (STEAM) through creative hands-on activities. Our programming provides fun, engaging, culturally enriched activities that encourages children and youth to explore their sense of wonder. Children are introduced to hands-on, exciting activities that promotes discovery, rewards curiosity, and leaves children amazed at what they can do.

Pre-Apprentice Welding Program | Mon-Fri, Jan - May | Accredited course cost applies
This full-time 20-week certificate program is designed to provide students with theoretical trade knowledge combined with hands-on shop experience, which enables students to continue to train for employment as capable and knowledgeable first-year apprentices. Students learn on-the-job-safety skills and awareness as well as, the ability to apply mathematical concepts to the welding equipment field. Courses include: Standard First Aid/CPR-C, Rigging and Hoisting, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, Welding Safety, Welding Hand and Power Tools, Oxyacetylene Welding and Welding Faults, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Intro to Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) Theory, Application of Welding.
Pre-requisite: Math 030 (min 75%) and English 10 or equivalency (at the discretion of the instructor).

Yùhke Zho | Yukon School of Visual Arts
Yukon University is a proud partner in the Yukon School of Visual Arts (SOVA), situated adjacent to the Dawson Campus in the Yùhke Zho building. The Foundation Year program at SOVA is a university level program, equivalent to the first year of a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (BFA). SOVA is a collaboration between Yukon University, the Klondike Institute of Arts & Culture (KIAC) and Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in.

YSPOR supports health research through training, capacity development, knowledge sharing and translation, so that patients, families and communities are empowered to shape health care and research. YSPOR is based at Yukon University's Ayamdigut Campus and is funded by the Canadian Institute of Health Research.
