New look for Yukon College website

WHITEHORSE - Yukon College launched a re-designed website homepage today. It features a simplified, cleaner look that provides more information at-a-glance, with improved main navigation menus floating over an archival image from the College’s 50-year history. 

“The new design ensures that current and future students are only one click away from the information that matters most to them,” said Director of College Relations Jacqueline Bedard.

This new look is backed up with improved site-wide navigation and a new programs page with groupings aimed at providing future students with clear pathways into College programs.

“We have moved site navigation to four drop-down menus at the top of the page, giving our homepage a cleaner, less cluttered look and feel,” said YC Online Marketing and Web Developer Shane Griffiths. “Emerging trends in website design, and our own research, recognize that today’s current and prospective students are much more web-savvy. They don’t want to feel routed - they are comfortable navigating their way online and respond better to a simplified design.”

Website analytics, plus feedback from students and staff helped guide the re-design, the first since 2009. The background image will change each time the page is accessed, cycling through six archival images highlighting the College’s 50th Anniversary. The background images are theme driven and will change through the academic year.

In 2012/13, the Yukon College website was accessed by 181,256 unique visitors from all over the world. You can check out the new look at www.yukoncollege.yk.ca/.
