More Programming Available for Training and Personal Development
Whitehorse – Yukon College’s Continuing Education Department has just completed a strategic restructuring that will further build upon its success in delivering high quality training in the Yukon. The Fall 2010 CE Calendar was released in late August with many new courses being offered. The course subjects range from self-interest to professional development.
By request of Yukon employers, a new Certificate of Completion program in Leadership and Management offers professional development in administrative management skills, bookkeeping, and MS Office. “Yukon College Continuing Education works with Yukon employers on an on-going basis to ensure employees have the skills they need to succeed,” says Karsten Henriksen, Yukon College’s Manager of Continuing Education. “Our network of community campuses place us in a unique position to work with a diverse group of employers to ensure timely and relevant training” says Henriksen. Learners have the flexibility of taking one course or completing the whole program.
Various other new courses are available. Small business and entrepreneurship courses provide small organization development in marketing and promotion. Hospitality and tourism courses will highlight best practices for Bed & Breakfast operators while restaurateurs can learn about serving the perfect wine. Industrial sewing courses are being offered by a local clothing designer and will prepare students with knowledge to work in the industry. These are in addition to the Safety, Multimedia, Languages, and other continuing education courses.
